Questions you're too polite to ask
The honest answers — about how I work, what it costs, and why a one-person shop might be exactly what your site needs.
Is this for real?
Do you really respond within one business day?
Usually much faster — my average is under two hours during business hours. The trade-off: I don't answer on weekends, and I don't do phone or text. Email keeps everything organized and keeps me sane. Balance.
Are you actually a one-person business?
Yep. When you email, you get me. No middlemen, no "let me check with my team." This either sounds wonderful or terrifying to you, and both reactions are fair.
What happens if you get sick or go on vacation?
Fair question. I have a trusted backup for true emergencies, you'll always know about vacations in advance, and since I work from home, a normal sick day rarely stops me. I've run this through flu seasons, a pandemic, and even a bout with cancer. You're covered.
Money & commitment
What does it cost?
Maintenance plans are $40, $95, or $150/month depending on your site. New builds run $2,500–$10,000+ depending on complexity. Switching off Wix or Squarespace starts at $1,500. I always quote before starting — no surprises.
Do I have to host with you?
Yes — hosting is part of every plan, on high-performance servers I manage. One bill, one place, one person responsible. It's what makes the whole "handled" thing possible.
Do you require a contract?
Builds, yes. Maintenance plans, no — they're month-to-month, and you can leave anytime. (People rarely do. Ten years in, my clients stick around.)
Will you hold my site hostage if I leave?
Never. Your site is yours — all passwords, all files, all of it. I've had clients leave and come back. No locked doors, no hard feelings. (One note: while you're with me, premium themes and tools run on my subscriptions, so you'd set up your own if you go.)
The WordPress stuff
Do you only build in Divi?
Yes. Divi's my favorite and where I'm fastest, but I also comfortably maintain existing Avada and Elementor sites.
My WordPress site is ancient. Is it salvageable?
Almost everything is. The real question is whether it's worth saving or smarter to rebuild — and I'll give you an honest answer, not the one that pads my invoice.
Do I need to be local?
Nope. Most of my clients I've never met in person. Email, phone, Zoom — whatever works for you, from wherever you are.
The trust questions
What don't you do?
Video production. Pretend to be an expert in things I'm not. Work with people who are unkind. Also — I have strong feelings about websites that autoplay music.
Why should I trust you with something this important?
Because 95% of my business comes from referrals. Because I've been doing this for over ten years. Because I'll never sell you something you don't need — and I'll treat your site like the livelihood it's attached to.
Still have a question?
Schedule a free Zoom and we'll see if we're a fit. No hard sell. I promise.
